August South Carolina Baptist Fellowship

The August South Carolina Baptist Fellowship meeting will be a combined fellowship at Alpine Baptist "The Old Country Church " in Columbia, SC on Monday, August 6th, starting at 2:OO PM. J Earl Green, host pastor, has invited Pastor Jim Pratt of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, Dante, VA to start the combined South Carolina Baptist and Low Country Fellowship. He will be followed by Pastor Larry Pearson of the Temple Baptist Church of Anderson, SC and then the Founder of Beacon of Truth, Pastor Dan Hummel of Florence, SC. These men of God will be a blessing and encouragement as they preach the Word of God. Joining these men of God will be the singing of the Matt Dabiler Family. Brother Matt is a member of The Inspirations. The ladies of the church will provide supper at 5:30 PM in the fellowship building. Then Monday evening's service will start at 7:OO with the choir of the Old Country Church directed by Brother Gary Goff, the Matt Dabiler family, and the preaching of Barry Goodman, Pastor of the Faith Baptist Church of Shelby, NC. His preaching was a blessing two years ago. Pastor Goodman will continue with Alpine Baptist through Friday, August 10th. This is the church's annual Jubilee. Services will be at 7:30 PM with the prayer room at 7:15. Joining the Jubilee on Friday night will be the choir of Temple Baptist Church of Anderson, directed by Brother Paul Raines.

Directions to the church: Take I-20 toward Florence and then take exit 76. At the red light turn right on Alpine Road and travel 112 mile and the church is on the left. If you will be traveling I-77 then exit at Alpine Road which is exit 16A and turn right on Alpine Road. If more information is needed, please call at 803-788-2646. It's in the Valleys I Grow

Sometimes life seems hard to bear,
Full of sorrow, trouble, and woe.
It's then I have to remember
That its in the valleys I grow.

If I always stayed on the mountain top
And never experienced pain,
I would never appreciate God's love
And would be living in vain.

I have so much to learn,
And my growth is very slow.
Sometimes I need the mountain tops,
But ifs in the valleys I grow.

I do not always understand
Why things happen as they do,
But I am very sure of one thing:
My Lord will see me through.

My little valleys are nothing
When I picture Christ on the cross.
He went through the valley of death;
His victory was Satan's loss.

Forgive me Lord, for complaining,
When I'm feeling so very low.
Just give me a gentle reminder,
That it's in the valleys I grow.

Continue to strengthen me, Lord
And use my life each day,
To share your love with others
And help them find their way.

For this one thing I know:
The mountain tops are glorious,

The Course of Spiritual Anarchy

(1) When the standard of MUSIC in a church is lowered ... then the standard of DRESS is also lowered.

(2) When the standard of DRESS is lowered ... then the standard of CONDUCT is also lowered.

(3) When the standard of CONDUCT is lowered ... the sense of value in God's TRUTH is lowered.

(4) When the standard of God's TRUTH is lowered . . . then we have SPIRITUAL ANARCHY!




By the Numbers

Number of physicians in the US = 700,000. Accidental deaths caused by physicians per year = 120,000. Accidental deaths per physician = 0.171 (U.S. Dept. of Health & Human Services).

Number of gun owners in the US = 80,000,000 Number of accidental gun deaths per year = 1,500 (all age groups). Accidental deaths per gun owner = 0.0000188 (U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms).

Therefore, doctors are approximately 9,000 times more dangerous than gun owners.
