“A Lost Art”

“Which when they had read, they rejoiced for the consolation... “ Acts 15:31 In my file I have precious letters written to me encouraging me to keep on keeping on for Jesus. I have letters from Dr. Bob Jones, III, Dr. Lee Roberson, Dr. J. R. Faulkner, Rev. Steven Mays, and Dr. John Waters, hundreds of great men of God that I want my children to have and to read when I am gone to heaven.

Write a letter to a church member who has been faithful driving a vanor ushering, a secretary, a radio preacher who needs a lift, or someone having a health problem, or who is going through a severe trial in the ministry.

Recently, the media has been blasting Bob Jones University for the stands taken on interracial dating and Roman Catholicism. I took the time to write Dr. Jones a letter to encourage him. He wrote me back and said, “Your letter was a huge encouragement to me. I can’t thank you enough for it. My grandfather would have said it is better than clipping coupons from million-dollar bonds.”

Has some Christian, preacher, Trumpet article, or meeting been a blessing? Take time to write someone and encourage him to hear the rejoicing over something simple but profound, and discover a lost art in our circles today.
