THE SEDUCTION OF PROMISE KEEPERSVII. Promise Keepers View on Judging:If someone practices sin, remind them that they can escape it if they just follow my example (mentor). They teach that we are not to judge or be confrontive. A. Promise Keepers Manual. "Calling Men into Vital Relationships" 1 .The first job of men's small groups is to learn complete acceptance. 2. There is to be no "judgment", no "I told you so", or "you should have known better. 3. No hidden agenda - "I'm not out to change you and you're not out to change me." 4. The Bible says to "rebuke" - Revelation 3:19, Luke 17:3-4, I Corinthians 5:12-13. VIII. Promise Keepers View on Jesus - You can call their ideas about Jesus to be "sensitivity" and "feminine". A. Promise Keepers Author - Bob Beltz: "Jesus Christ is challenging and exciting! He was and is the most attractive and winsome personality in all of human history. " 1 . What about Isaiah 53:2-3? It was not Jesus' personality or looks that attracted men to Him but His Word. Men are not saved by coming to Jesus as a man, they are saved by responding to His Word. The Bible says He is a "rock of offense." He is not a movie star, singing star, or sports star but he was "despised and we esteemed him not." I guess Jesus forgot to read books on "How to Win Friends and Influence People" or the "Power of Positive Thinking." IX. Promise Keepers Encounter Groups - One method of breaking the ice in Promise Keepers men's groups is to play a game called "People Bingo." A. "People Bingo" - In this game, they ask questions pertaining to certain sexual traits and experiences. 1. Questions: Have you been arrested at least once?
Were you neglected or abused by your father? Have you ever had a circumcision, vasectomy, or prostate operation? Describe your phallic experiences on your wedding night or in the conception of your first child? What about Heb 13:4, "Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge." a. In the chapter dealing with the phallic male, the group leader is told to get men to open up about their deepest sexual fantasies: "Note to the leader: If the men in your group are likely to have difficulty talking vulnerably and emphatically with each other about their sex lives, them stop and talk about why you are having that difficulty."
