For 34 years I have been getting "The Bible Trumpet." My
wife for years wrote an article in "The Bible Trumpet" entitled, "Truth
for Teens." Together we wrote one on missionaries. I admired the
founder, my precious father-in-law, Dr. John Waters, for using "The
Bible Trumpet" to take on liberalism and modernism in the Southern
Baptist convention. I always loved how he would confront those dial
strayed from the KJV. He blasted his critics, with lines like, "If they
don't like us hollering about their dirty laundry, let them do the
hollering and it will save us a lot of trouble." A-men!
My friend, confronting the powerful vipers of religion and 'the very religious' is dangerous. (Remember who crucified our Lord?) It requires character, courage, and caution. For 50 years "The Bible Trumpet" under the leadership of Dr. Water and now Bro. Mays has been 'hollering' about the right things. It has been hollering about modernism, loose living, Hollywood movies, dead churches, (I love it when I hear - 'a church that's alive is worth the drive') dances, nakedness, immodesty, mixed swimming, Bible Colleges that drop their standards, Christians with no burden for souls, pastors who are lazy, and of course on so many occasions keeping preaching the main thing in our Churches!
Dr. Jack Hyles used to say, "It's not my hollering getting on peoples nerves, it's what I'm hollering about." Almost fifty years after the first Bible Trumpet went in the mail I got my November 2001 issue and Glory to God I was so glad that it's still hollering. Keep on Hollering, it's needed more than ever!
