American Muslim Fights for Taliban?
Yes, you read the title right, according to the Courier-Mail of Brisbane, Australia, the November 6th publication describes in detail a United States citizen who has joined the Taliban. The 26-year old's name is Mohammed Junaid. In spite of the fact that his mother survived the attack upon the World Trade Center after being led to safety by kind firefighters and policemen, Junaid purchased a one-way ticket to Pakistan to fight against America. He told ITN television: "My mother was in the north tower of the World Trade Center but I still feel absolutely no remorse about what happened on September 11. I saw the towers collapse but fell nothing for the Americans inside. I may hold an American passport, but I am not an American -- I am a Muslim. I'm willing to kill the Americans. I will kill every American that I see in Afghanistan. And I'll kill every American soldier that I see in Pakistan."
On November 7, American jets bombed a caravan of foreign recruits that were making their way into Afghanistan from Pakistan. Reportedly this caravan was making their way to the help out at the Taliban front lines (The Washington Times, Nov. 7, 2001). As I read this report I couldn't help but wonder if Ol' Junaid might have somehow gotten into this particular caravan? If not that one, maybe anther one.
