GUN CONTROL

"Australia's ban on handguns did not stop a killer from shooting 54 people, 35 of them fatally, in 1996: he resorted to rifles. After the 1996 slaughter, the Australian government outlawed semi-automatic and pump-action shotguns. As part of the deal, it bought back 640,000 guns from their private owners. The result? In the first year of the new ban, the murder rate rose 3.2 percent and armed robberies were up 44 percent." -- Columnist Stephen Chapman, The Federalist Brief , 12 October 1999.

WHEN I ASKED GOD....

I asked for strength and God gave me difficulties to make me strong. I asked for wisdom and God gave me problems to solve. I asked for prosperity and God gave me brawn and brain to work. I asked for courage and God gave dangers to overcome. I asked for love and God gave me troubled people to help. I asked for favors and God gave me opportunities. I received nothing I wanted. I received everything I needed. My prayer has been answered.

EXCUSES, EXCUSES,
YOU HEAR THEM EVERY DAY!!!

As Visitation Minister of Trinity Baptist Church in Spartanburg, SC, it amazes me of all the excuses that people use. "I don't go on visitation because the Lord hasn't called me." What happened to Matthew 28:19 where the Lord said, "Go ye therefore and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost: ....." When asked why they couldn’t do something for the Lord, one person responded with, “there goes a fire truck down the road. One excuse is a good as another.” We’ll give an account for these excuses some of these days.

Several people have told me that they are concerned about the Y2K and therefore not going on The Holy Land Tour in March 2000. Is it Y2K or the B49? I try not to let other people use fear to control me! I do not believe that the Y2K has caught God by surprise - Proverbs 3:5-6. The seating is limited for the March Tour. We have approximately 25 deposits in already. Get you deposits in as soon as possible to make sure of your seating. Call Bro Raleigh Lindsay at (864) 597-0967 for information. Monthly payments are available. Email: SirWaltr@bellsouth.net

The Nation’s Men

...Of the nation's 94 million men, only 26 million attend services regularly, and some researchers say the number may be as low as 13 million, The Washington Times said. American men "are one of the massive pagan subcultures on earth today," a Barna Research Group report said.

Leading Versus Managing

Real leaders often astonish and frighten as they lead. They break new ground, take new territory, and ask for new kinds of commitments. They make new kinds of commitments themselves. Maintaining the status quo is what managers do. This is not at all a bad thing, but it is not leadership. Leadership by definition, means being out front blazing new trails. This always causes amazement, fear, and discomfort. The leader is almost always the one who is called upon to give the most.” Are you willing to lead? Our Saviour lead the way. He was a leader of leaders. Mark 10:32, "And they were in the way going up to Jerusalem; and Jesus went before them: and they were amazed; and as they followed, they were afraid."
