South Carolina Baptist Fellowship Meeting

Kick off the New Millenium...
January South Carolina Baptist Fellowship

The January South Carolina Baptist Fellowship meeting will be hosted by the Choice Hills Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina. The meeting will be moved back from the first Monday to the second Monday so that we allow time for everyone to get settled back in from the Holidays. This will also allow those who’ve gone into hiding over the feared Y2K crisis to come back out.

Pastor Stan Craig and all the good folks of Choice Hills invite everyone to attend this great time of fiery preaching, great food, and wonderful fellowship. The date for the next fellowship meeting is January 10th, 2000. The meeting will begin in the afternoon at 2:00pm. Bro. Craig has lined up some great preachers and he has asked that every man of God come with something powerful to kick off the new year!

Preachers, bring some printed material to share with the Brethren. Be sure to announce the meeting in your church bulletin. For directions to the Choice Hills Baptist Church, please call 864-984-7396 or 864-246-6140.

The Myth of the Perfect Pastor

Did you know?

  • 90 percent of pastors work more than forty-six hours a week.
  • 90 percent feel they were inadequately trained to cope with ministry demands.
  • 80 percent believe pastoral ministry has affected their families negatively.
  • 75 percent report a significant stress-related crisis at least once in their ministry.
  • 70 percent say they have a lower self-image than when they started in the ministry.
  • 70 percent do not have someone they consider a close friend.
  • 50 percent feel unable to meet the needs of the job.
  • 40 percent report a serious conflict with a parishioner at least once a month.
  • 33 percent confess having been involved in some inappropriate sexual behavior with someone in the church.
  • 33 percent say that being in the ministry is an outright hazard to their family.
  • Births Increase

"Births to unmarried parents in the United States have increased five-fold since the 1930s. Forty-one percent of births to women 15-29 between 1990-94 were out of wedlock, The Associated Press reports. Only 8% of births were to unmarried parents from 1930-34. Unmarried couples are less likely to get married because of a pregnancy, the study shows. In the 1960s, about 50-60% of couples married after finding the woman was pregnant. That number dropped to 29% in the early 1980s. Children of unmarried parents are more likely to face social and economic problems."

    Spotlight On...

This month we want to spotlight two young evangelists I’ve had the privilege to hear in the recent months. The first is David Smallwood. I heard Evangelist Smallwood at the September South Carolina Baptist Fellowship. He preached one of the best messages I’ve ever heard out of Revelation chapter three on the Laodocean Church. Bro. Smallwood is a member of the Forrest Hills Baptist Church in Stone Mountain Georgia, where Rock Deerfield is the Pastor. He’s been in evangelism six years. He would be a help to your people. You can contact him by calling: (404) 374-0522

The second evangelist I want to spotlight this month is Evangelist Mike Qualls. I heard Bro. Qualls preach at the Faith Baptist Camp Meeting in Resaca Georgia during the Thanksgiving meeting. He brought an anointed message. God used it, it was powerful. Before going into evangelism, Bro. Qualls pastored for six years. His home church is the Morning Star Baptist Church in Cleveland NC. He stepped out in evangelism in July of 1999. To book him for a meeting call: (704) 872-0989
