IS IT PUNCTUATION OR
"PUNCH"UATION THAT BOTHERS YOU?

It has been my joy to write a few articles for The Baptist Bible Trumpet.  Of course, mail has poured in concerning the subjects I approached.  Needless to say, most mail has been negative and critical.  One such letter stands out from the rest.  In the letter I was told that my spelling was poor and that my English was at a fourth grade level.

First, I must admit that grammar was not one of my favorite subject in school.  Second, my articles are not intended to be English lessons, though I do try to make them as grammatically sound as possible.  Third, Paul tells us that there is a danger with people that dwell on excellency of speech. (I Cor. 2:1).  Someone rebuked D.L. Moody once about the seventeen grammar mistakes in one of his public messages.  His reply was a question, "Was that all?” He then added, “I'm using my voice for the building of God's Kingdom, what are you using yours for?”  Fourth, I Cor. 8:1, declares that knowledge puffs up. Some use their grammar to show how smart they are.  I do not want to read an article, then have to find a dictionary to figure what I just read.  Fifth, did you know that The King James Bible is written on the fourth grade level?  Ironically that was the level on which my critic said I wrote. Maybe I should take his rebuke as a compliment. Sixth, the same guy who wrote me about my spelling and grammar, had two misspelled words and four grammatical mistakes in his stupid letter!

Now I said all of the above to get to the real issue.  I don’t think the real problem has a thing to do with punctuation, its the PUNCH. This nut is a perfect example of low down, sorry, good for nothing, spiritual hobo's,  that would find fault in Jesus Himself!!!  They are liberal spiritual retards, that can not take straight forward, sin killing, Bible preaching.  My suggestion to them would be, "Since you seem to have so much in-sight on how to write and run a paper, shut up and start one yourselves."  But of course, this is asking to much, they had rather set in their musty offices and find fault with everyone else. By the way, if the only thing I could write concerning an article was a complaint about the punctuation problems, I would not waste my time, paper, or stamps on the issue.

Within their letters of reproof, they were also quick to give their ideas of me personally, though most of them only know me through my articles. I was accused of being critical with my wording about people.  Yet they called me "dumb," and "stupid," and many other names I can't mention.  Strange, its right for them to call people names, yet everyone else needs to get right with God if they do it.

I'm glad to have these "nuts" complaining about my subjects.  If bums of this nature enjoyed what I submitted to Bro. Mays, I would never write another article the rest of my life.  But since the cards and letters continue to pour in, I have been inspired to continue writing.

There are three main reasons why truth upsets preachers. First, it reminds them of where they used to stand. Some that have rebuked me need to listen to their own preaching 15 years ago.  They would be amazed how straight they were at one time.  Second, the truth in the article has made their wife or some woman in the church mad.  It is sad that a bunch of sorry cowards for preachers have become the spokesmen for rebellious loud women.  Face it, you are not mad, but your wife sure is.  Third, they are afraid if their people hear straight messages, they will see how much of a compromisers their preacher really is.

If I never write another article for this paper, I want to thank God that there is a monthly Trumpet that is not afraid to tell the truth.  As long as this paper stands for God, and against sin, I will support it with my funds, and my prayer.  I wish many that read this issue, would send a one time offering, over and above your yearly support, just to let Bro. Mays know we love a paper that will print the truth.  Many told Bro. Mays that the Trumpet would die if he kept printing negative articles, such as mine.  I'm praying that God would give him the needed funds to add another page to The Trumpet in 2003! And just for those of you looking for errors
