Now, what are some things that, if practiced, kill worship services. I want to list four!
.— Dead, formalistic prelude music. Church services that start dead end dead. Life begets life! Instrumental numbers before the service set the atmosphere for the entire service. The prelude songs should be filled with joy and glory. Amen!
.— A song leader who's get up and go has gotten up and gone. It baffles me that a pastor would expect a fervent service from a cold drowsy song service. An excited "spark plug," singer will do much to warm the climate in the House of God. Your song leader has his hand on the thermostat.
.— Making excuses and mouthing negatives. When a church is failing, the members are well aware of it. Why remind them every service? Be positive! Talk about victories! Share plans for the future. Talk revival! Create expectancy!
.— Stale preaching and Saturday night specials. God's people know when the preacher has heard from God. He's prepared! His sermon is filled with Biblical content. He has a fresh anointing. You can't fool people. They know when the preacher is constantly preaching "moth ball" sermons. These are just a few service killers.
