Chocolate Soldiers

Why, fanatics among Christians are as rare as the dodo bird. God's real people have always been called fanatics. Jesus was called mad, so was Paul; so were Whitefield, Wesley, Moody, and Spurgeon. No one has graduated far in God's school who has not been paid the compliment of being called a fanatic. We Christians of today are indeed a tepid crew. Had we but half the fire and enthusiasm of the suffragettes of the past, we would have the world evangelized already. Alas! What stirs ordinary men's blood and turns them into heroes makes most Christians run like a flock of frightened sheep. From the sermon, “The Chocolate Soldier or Heroism - The Lost Chord of Christianity” by C.T. Studd (1860-1931).

Missionaries Balk on Doctrine Statement

The International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) voted recently to terminate 13 missionaries who have refused to sign the denomination's statement of faith, the Baptist Faith and Message. The board also allowed 20 other missionaries to resign rather than sign the doctrinal statement. The Baptist Faith and Message has been revised in recent years to strengthen its position on Biblical inerrancy, to prohibit women pastors, and to include a statement that wives must "submit graciously" to their husbands.

Editors note: Is it any surprise that these woman who won’t submit to their husbands won’t submit to the convention? They should have seen this one coming.

Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam

The Nation of Islam, which now has mosques or temples in 120 American cities, was founded in Detroit by Wallace D. Fard in 1930. Louis Farrakhan became its leader in 1975 upon the death of Elijah Muhammad, the man followers believed to have been the most recent "messenger from Allah." In the 1960s the movement came to public attention through the conversion of the world heavyweight boxing champion Cassius Clay (who consequently changed his name to Muhammad Ali) and then the assassination in Harlem of its spokesman, Malcolm X. Followers of the Nation of Islam are a common sight in the American inner city. They are dressed in dark suits with white shirts and red bow ties, they sell copies of the newspaper The Final Call, which now claims a weekly circulation of half a million. In a 1994 survey of African-Americans, 62 percent said they believed Farrakhan was good for the black community, and an impressive 82 percent said he spoke the truth. Do you know what he teaches?

Farrakhan's speeches are an alarming mix of bogus scholarship, black racism and Islamic fundamentalism. He teaches that the white race was created six thousand years ago by a black scientist called Yakub in order to test the mettle of the black race. The white race won, and ever since then the black race has been in bondage. The time has come, Farrakhan says, for blacks to escape from captivity and become the master race again. The Jews are also among the enemies he singles out. On June 13, 2002, Louis Farrakhan delivered the keynote address at the Hip Hop Summit in New York City. In his speech to the rappers, he said, "Rap has brought the children of the world to you." The WorldNetDaily article noted that, "Rap Music” frequently use metaphors or terms that are unintelligible to those unfamiliar with black Islamic beliefs. Terms such as 'dead niggaz' (non-Muslim blacks), or 'Yacub's crew' (whites), are all slang code that is commonly used to keep up the hatred for non-blacks and non-muslims.

Largest Ecumenical Meeting Ever Held

An estimated 200,000 attended the largest-ever ecumenical gathering in Germany. The five-day meeting, which brought together Protestants and Roman Catholics, ended on June 1st. The Dalai Lama and a Jewish rabbi were among those who addressed the meeting. One of the organizers of the event, Hans Meyer, said it "was a great step forward on the path of Christian ecumenism." Representatives of 16 denominations signed a "Charta Oecumenica" (ecumenical charter) that sets out guidelines toward the "visible unity" of "the church." Trumpet reader, be encouraged by this meeting. This "unity in apostasy" is prophesied in Revelation 17 and will culminate in a one-world "church" that will align itself with the antichrist, right after the church leaves at the rapture. We are close!

Great Quotes

"Let us not glide through this world and then slip quietly into heaven, without having blown the trumpet loud and long for our Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Let us see to it that the devil will hold a thanksgiving service in hell, when he gets the news of our departure from the field of service." - CT Studd

"The best training for a soldier of Christ is not merely a theological college. They always seem to turn out sausages of varying lengths, tied at each end, without the glorious freedom a Christian ought to abound and rejoice in. You see, when in hand-to-hand conflict with the world and the devil, neat little biblical confectionery is like shooting lions with a pea-shooter: one needs a man who will let himself go and deliver blows right and left as hard as he can hit, trusting in the Holy Ghost. It's experience of the fight, not preaching about a fight that hurts the devil and confounds the world. The training is not that of the schools but of the market: it's the hot, free heart and not the balanced head that knocks the devil out. Nothing but forked-lightning Christians will count.” - CT Studd

"Some wish to live within the sound of the Church bell; I want to run a Rescue Shop within a yard of hell." - CT Studd

Pro-Gay Democrat Party

The slate of Democratic candidates running for the 2004 election are the most "pro-gay presidential field ever." That is the conclusion of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force (San Francisco Chronicle, May 29). Carol Moseley Braun of Illinois received the highest rating from this pro-homosexual organization, followed by Howard Dean of Vermont.

Pope's Blessing

The Pope was finishing his sermon recently. He ended it with the Latin phrase, "Tuti Homini"  -  Blessed be Mankind. A women's rights group approached the Pope the next day. They noticed that the Pope blessed all Mankind, but not Womankind. The next day, after his sermon, the Pope concluded by saying, "Tuti Homini, et Tuti Femini" - Blessed be Mankind and Womankind. The next day a gay rights group approached the Pope. They said that they noticed he blessed Mankind and Womankind, and asked if he could also bless gay people.  He said, "Sure." The next day the Pope concluded his sermon with, "Tuti Homini, et Tuti Femini, et Tuti Fruiti."

Gun Ownership

In Luke 22:35 the Lord was sending out his disciples. Certainly this would involve a great deal of faith as these servants went out into the dangers of the unknown. Notice what he told them. “And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing. 36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.” According to this passage our Lord thought having a sword was more important than having an extra garment. By the way, the sword wasn’t used for hunting deer or feeding your family. It was used for protection. Clearly the Lord knew that danger was eminent for his servants and that these men would need to defend themselves. Clearly God can take care of us. He doesn’t need our help. But God said get a sword if you don’t have one. You and I would do well to listen. Pacifists and liberals on the other hand will do well to skip over the passage.

Becoming A Conservative

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college.   She considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat and her father was a rather staunch conservative Republican.   One day she was challenging her father on his beliefs and his opposition to programs like welfare.   He stopped her and asked her how she was doing in school.   She answered that she had a 4.0 GPA but it was really tough.   She had to study all the time, never had time to go out and party and often went sleepless because of all the studying.   She didn't have time for a boyfriend and didn't really have many college friends because of all her studying.   He then asked how her friend Mary, who was attending the same college, was doing.   She replied that she was barely getting by.   She had a 2.0 GPA, never studied, was very popular on campus and was at parties all the time.    He then asked his daughter why she didn't go to the Dean's office and ask why she couldn't take 1.0 off her 4.0 and give it to her friend who only had a 2.0.   That way they would both have a 3.0 GPA.   The daughter fired back and said, "That wouldn't be fair, I worked really hard for mine and my friend has done nothing".   The father smiled and said, "I thought you said you were a democrat, welcome to the Republican Party."
