April is Trumpet Renewal Month
Trumpet readers, we want to encourage you to renew your subscriptions to the Trumpet in the Month of April. Pastors, if your Church is not supporting the Trumpet in your monthly missions budget would you consider putting the Trumpet in your Budget this April? Perhaps you could send in a one time offering at that time. The Lord has graciously blessed the Trumpet over the years. Plans are in the works to expand and do more.
Great Fellowship Meeting — God Truly Blessed
The 48th annual Trumpet Meeting held on Monday February 7th was great. The crowd was great, the house was full. Many came early to get books and other materials that were available. The singing was great! The Rochester family was a blessing. In the afternoon four men of God preached, and the preaching was anointed. God used and blessed each message. Between the afternoon and evening services a banquet meal was served. Over 280 stayed and ate. The food was super. Many who were not able to come in the afternoon came for the evening service and with the house packed, Dr. Mike Allison preached a powerful message on “The Wisdom of Man versus the Wisdom of God”.
The final message of the day was brought by Evangelist Phil Kidd. Bro. Kidd preached from his life verse, Psalm 34:6, and shared his testimony. God moved - not only was a there a whole lot of shouting and rejoicing, but the altars and aisles were filled when the invitation was given. When the service ended, folks hung around and fellowshipped for well over an hour.
I want to thank all of our readers who came and made the 48th annual Trumpet Banquet a truly special day. Plans are in the works already for next year’s meeting.
During the afternoon service I said that we would send all six messages to anyone, free of charge, BUT if they wanted the tapes they needed to give an offering that would be given to Mrs. Helen Waters, the wife of Dr. John Waters. If you were not here for the meeting but would like a set of those tapes, send a $10.00 offering to the Trumpet and we’ll mail those to you. Many Baptists gave me their address so I could mail them the tapes and a pitiful dollar or two offering. No doubt the same crowd robs God of their tithe as well. Enjoy the tapes.
Tribute to the Jew
A man by the name of Haym Salomon gave, in the beginning of the United States, an estimated $600,000 to $800,000. George Washington was so grateful for this that he instructed the engravers to engrave a tribute on the back of the one-dollar bill above the head of the bald eagle, to the Jew. Above the head you will find the Star of David surrounded by the brilliant light of the Shekinah glory that dwelled above the Mercy Seat in the Holy of Holies in the Jewish tabernacle. Turn the bill upside down, putting your thumb over the eagle's head; the shield becomes the menorah, or the seven golden candlesticks of Israel. Putting you thumb completely over the shield leaves the tail of nine feathers that represent the flames of the Hanukkah Menorah. To the Israelites, the number thirteen was significant number. Including the Levites, there were thirteen tribes of Israel. Thirteen is also the age when a boy or girl reaches adulthood. There are thirteen leaves in the olive branch in the right claw of the eagle, thirteen arrows in the left claw, thirteen stripes on the shield and thirteen stars in the cloud representing the thirteen colonies. Romans 15:27 “It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things.” We have taken of Israelis’ spiritual things by our salvation; we are debtors to them in carnal (materialistic) things. Not only does a trip to Israel help us in our spiritual life; we also help Israel in their material things.
Psalm 122:6 Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.

Great country, huh folks?
Back in 1969 a group of Black Panthers decided that a black man named Alex Rackley needed to die. Rackley was a fellow Panther suspected of disloyalty. Rackley was first tied to a chair. Safely immobilized his "friends" tortured him for hours by, among other things, pouring boiling water on him. When they grew tired of torturing Rackley, Black Panther member Warren Kimbro took Mr. Rackley outside and put a bullet in his head. Rackley's body was found floating in a river about 25 miles north of New Haven, Connecticut.
Maybe at this point you're curious as to what happened to these Black Panthers. Well, in 1977, only eight years later, ONLY one of these killers was still in jail. The murderer, Warren Kimbro, managed to get a scholarship to Harvard. He later became an assistant dean at Eastern Connecticut State College.
Isn't that something? As a 1960's radical you can shoot a bullet into someone's head, and years later, in the same state, you can become an assistant college dean! Only in America! Ericka Huggins was the woman who served the Panthers by boiling the water for Mr. Rackley's torture. Some years later, Ms. Ericka Huggins was elected to a California school board. How in the world do you think that these killers got off so easy? Well, maybe it was due in some part to the efforts of two people who came to the defense of these Black Panther murders. These two people actually went so far as to shut down Yale University with demonstrations in defense of the accused Black Panthers during their trial. One of those people was none other than, Bill Lan Lee. Mr. Lee, or Mr. Lan Lee as the case may be, isn't a college dean. He isn't a member of a California school board. He is the head of the U. S. Justice Department's Civil Rights Division. Lee is serving in that capacity illegally, by the way, but that's another story, another part of the Bill Clinton saga of igno ing the rule of law.
O.K., so who was the other Panther defender? Is this other notable Panther defender now a school board member? Is this other Panther apologist now an assistant college dean? Nope, neither. The other Panther defender was, like Lee, a radical law student at Yale University at that time. She is now known as "The Smartest Woman in the World". She is none other than the now official Democratic candidate for the U. S. Senate from the State of New York, our own First Lady, the incredible Hillary Rodham Clinton. Only in a America! Great country, huh folks?

Trivia Question
As most of you know, February was black history month. With this in mind, we have a trivia question: What well-known Virginian founded, taught and FUNDED a black Sunday School class and due to the fact that at that time it was illegal to teach blacks to read and write, was threatened with prosecution? This threat did not deter him and many converts from this class went out and founded black churches in Virginia. The answer is: Thomas Jackson, later known as General Stonewall Jackson of the Confederate Army.
Great Quotes from Puritans:
Let those be thy choicest companions who have made Christ their chief companion.
The lives of ministers oftentimes convince more strongly than their words; their tongues may persuade, but their lives command.
An idle life and a holy heart is a contradiction.
Christ choosing solitude for private prayer, doth not only hint to us the danger of distraction and deviation of thoughts in prayer, but how necessary it is for us to choose the most convenient places we can for private prayer. Our own fickleness and Satan's restlessness call upon us to get into such places where we may freely pour out our soul into the bosom of God
Repentance is a grace, and must have its daily operation, as well as other graces. A true penitent must go on from faith to faith, from strength to strength; he must never stand still or turn back. True repentance is a continued spring, where the waters of godly sorrow are always flowing. 'My sin is ever before me'.
You had better be a poor man and a rich Christian, than a rich man and a poor Christian. You had better do anything, bear anything, and be anything rather than be a dwarf in grace.
Much faith will yield unto us here. But any faith in Jesus Christ, if true, will yield us Heaven hereafter.
The only way to avoid cannon-shot is to fall down. Such is also the case when we desire to be freed from temptation.
The best and sweetest flowers of Paradise, God gives to his people when they are upon their knees. Prayer is the gate of heaven, a key to let us in to Paradise.
Too often the house of him who professes to be a Christian turns out to be the same as the pretender. The beauty at a distance changes into hideous deformity when near. Oh, to be found, when closest watched, better than observers would at first sight have conceived us to be!
Christ is the sun, and all the watches of our lives should be set by the dial of his motion.
