Heretofore the on-line version of the Trumpet has been freely available and it has become a very popular Internet site. We are very glad to have picked up many new readers through this ministry, but we have started to lose subscriptions to the printed version of the Trumpet as people have found they can get the same content for free on-line. We cannot afford to do this and continue publication. The subscription fees we collect do not currently cover the cost of publication, let alone allow for planned expansion of the paper. For this reason we have forced to publish two separate version of the Trumpet On-Line.
The version you are currently reading will continue to be free. It is however a limited version. The announcements and brief news articles and one or two feature articles will appear in this version.
The second version will contain all of the articles that appear in the printed version. The full version of Trumpet On-line will be available through an annual subscription fee of only $7.00
We have set up a convenient subscription form here on the new web site ( The new site was donated - $0 - not paid for with subscription fees. )
On several occasions throughout he year, we try to put the spotlight on a ministry or on a young evangelist for the benefit of the pastors and churches who receive the Bible Trumpet This month I want to put the spotlight on Bro. Craig Cearns and the Cleft of the Rock Ministry. Bro. Cearns is a deacon in the Faith Baptist Church of Laurens, South Carolina, and he has made several trips at his own expense to Eastern Europe to do missions work. Bro. Cearns is a highly skilled mechanic and carpenter. He has a burden to serve missionaries with the skills that God has given him. I know Bro. Cearns to be a very honest, hard-working man; and I believe his burden and calling are real and will be a tremendous help to many missionaries and full-time Christian servants, as they already have been, I have asked him to write about what God has called him to do: - Editor
In 1997 God spoke to my heart about missions. At that time, I did not know what the Lord had in store for my family and me. I saw myself as a pew-warmer and knew that needed to change. My wife and I visited the Romanian mission field in the summers of 1999 and 2000. 1 did not feel the Lord was calling me to be a full-time foreign missionary, but while there I was able to see first band just what a missionary goes through in order to spread the glorious Gospel of Christ on the foreign field. I saw the need for a helps ministry for missionaries. This has been an overlooked need of our missionaries. The Cleft of the Rock Ministry is a unique ministry. We will offer long and short-term housing and automobiles for missionary use while on deputation or furlough. Part of our plan is to have a shop for repairing missionary vehicles and for building pews, pulpits, or other needed items to send to churches that are being built. We will also be involved with shipping overseas containers. Our goal is serving the missionaries' needs, while at the same time having a place where missionaries can come and stay and he encouraged. ("And this they did not as we hoped, but first gave their own selves to the Lord, and unto us by the will of God."
II Corinthians 8:5) Please pray about allowing my family and me to come and share our burden with your church as we raise support for this ministry. Currently, we have raised about 30% of our building fund. We are currently doing as much as possible to help missionaries with the various needs they have.
Please pray for us; and, as the Lord leads, allow us to present our burden to you and your churches. I can be contacted by at (864) 983-2542 or CleftoftheRock85@aol.com
