(A reprinted article)

The second book is the “Book of the Living.” We read in Psalm 69:28: “Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.”

This verse indicates at least two books, one for all the living on the earth, and another for the righteous, which is the fourth book in our outline of study.

Another related portion is Exodus 32:32, 33: “Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin. . .: and if not, blot me, I pray thee out of the book which thou hast written. And the Lord saith unto Moses, whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.”

This Book of the Living, written by God’s recording angels, has a list of all the living on the earth. We know that all have sinned, but it is evident that a special kind of sin would cause them to be blotted out of the Book of the Living. They would no longer have the privilege of living on the earth.

These would include all who perished in the flood because of their special sin of striving against the Spirit of God, provoking God until He took them off the earth. It includes all for whom Christ died, and He died for all; but even some saved are guilty of sinning a sin unto death - “There is a sin unto death (physically)” and they are blotted out of the Book of the Living (1 Cor. 5:5 and 1 John 5:16). This does not mean the saved are lost, but that they are deprived from living on the earth. They are turned over to Satan for the destruction of the body that the spirit may be saved in the Day of the Lord Jesus (1Cor. 5:5).

We have known a number of truly born again Christians who were taken off the earth by premature death due to turning back on Christ. They would not be corrected by the chastening and warning of God so the most severe chastening was applied to interrupt their bent to sin. The true believer must overcome one way or the other.

There are some unsaved also who are blotted out of the Book of the Living. “He that being often reproved, hardeneth his neck shall be suddenly destroyed, and that without remedy.” (Proverbs 29:1) Of course, his soul goes to hell while the soul of the saved who is taken off the earth goes to heaven..

At this writing, Dr. John Waters is in the hospital in Laurens. The prognosis is not good. The family requests your prayers for this great warrior for the faith. Also, my wife Donna and I are with Dr. Tom Harper, Second Baptist Church in Goldsboro, NC, in revival meetings. The following week we will be with Pastor Ted Decker in Enfield, NC. Please pray for us as we seek to lead Faith Baptist Church and School along with all our other endeavors. God is able.

I’m not sure how many of you received the communication from the “Congress of Christ.” They requested representatives from all denominations to assist in dismantling denominations. It sounded pretty good until they stated that we would all have to sacrifice some of our beliefs for other differing philosophies. I am aware that the first church was in the upper room with one mind, in one accord, but this crowd would have us dispense with foundational truths in order to embrace all people. In the letter, they gave me until December, 1999, to make a decision. I personally decided years ago that I would not compromise truth in order to unite with all denominations. I haven’t changed my mind, nor do I intend to ever compromise God’s Word. According to the latest developments, leadership from Washington is emphasizing global unity “for the well-being of the world.” The message from God to the world is clearly stated in John 3:16. We must never compromise that message for any type of unity with man. Those who will unite can only do so around the perfect work of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and THERE WE MUST STAND!!!

The Bible Baptist Church of Simpsonville, South Carolina will be hosting a teacher training seminar on Saturday, November 22, 1997, from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM. The leader of the seminar is Ab Thomas.

Bro. Thomas was the youth director at Highland Park Baptist Church in Chattanooga for seventeen years. He presently heads up his widely used “Master Club Program.” Having been in the youth ministry for thirty-four years, he has a vast storehouse of knowledge to share.

The cost of the seminar is twenty dollars each or thirty five dollars per couple. Each person attending will receive a fifty page notebook plus free samples of materials.

Lunch will be up to each individual. There are several fast food restaurants just down the street.

This will be an excellent opportunity for Sunday School teachers and other church workers to gain some extra teaching skills as well as motivation.

(Jerusalem) — Of the 70,500 new immigrants to Israel in the last year, 2,800 came from North America, and 2,200 from South America. The biggest inflow was made by Soviet Jews. As Israel celebrated Rosh Hashanah, the entire population stood at 5,716,000, of which 4,620,000 are Jewish, 835,000 Muslim and 166,000 “Christian.”

Isaiah 11:10-12 “And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people, which shall be left, from Assyria, and from Egypt, and from Pathros, and from Cush, and from Elam, and from Shinar, and from Hamath, and from the islands of the sea. And he shall set up an ensign for the nations, and shall assemble the outcasts of Israel and gather together the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.” See also, Acts 2:5; 11:25-26; 13:46-48; Romans 9:1-5; 10:1; 11:11.
