A Word of Thanks...

A word of thanks is extended to Pastor Bill Pickell and the members of the Calvary Hill Baptist Church in Pacolette, SC.. This fine Church hosted the meeting last month and did a really good job. This was the first SC. Baptist Fellowship meeting that Calvary Hill has hosted but you would not have never known that. Bro. Pickel’s folks provided some wonderful special music and did an outstanding job with the meal. The afternoon crowd was good. Many stayed for the evening services and many more came who were not there in the afternoon.

If you would like to host a meeting in 2000, please contact Pastor Steven Mays, secretary of the SC Baptist Fellowship. At this point four months are already scheduled.

Helping Wayward Girls find “THE WAY"

Mr. and Mrs. Robby Coggins began the Temple Baptist Church Home for Girls as a ministry of Temple Baptist Church in Laurens, SC., (David Johnston, Pastor) three years ago . It was started with the purpose of helping discouraged families with their wayward daughters. Bro. Coggins has said, “We can take away the source of alcohol and drugs, and we should do that, but it takes the work of the Holy Ghost to remove sin from the heart!” About 95% of the girls that have been in the Home have come from Independent Baptist Churches.

Due to space limitations, they can only take up to 5 girls in their home at this time. They are in the process of getting property so they can take in more girls. If they can be of help to your church in any way, please contact them at: Home: (864) 269-5750 - Church: (864) 682-2174.

WHY THE HOLY LAND TOURS!

My first tour was in March of 1990. I always wondered what kept Dr. Waters returning to Israel. I felt that once you had seen it that would be it. BOY was I ever mistaken. I continue to return to Israel because of the Lord’s leading and there is so much to see and learn. I claim Acts 3:5; “And he gave heed unto them EXPECTING TO RECEIVE SOMETHING of them.” I ask the Lord to reveal something special to me somewhere on each trip. On this particular trip I expected it to be at the Garden Tomb. It is not always what we expect. This trip, it was in The Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu or Caiaphas Palace (See Matthew 26:57-75). As we were standing down deep in the dungeon, which was nothing but a broken cistern, we read these Scriptures, sang a song and had prayer. It was as if the Lord spoke to me and said, “I went through all of this JUST for you!” I broke in tears and eased out to another room to thank Him for what He had done and become for me. What a time of fellowship I had with Him that day. As I was praying and rejoicing with the Lord, Mrs. Waters came up behind me and spoke softly in my ear and said, “Bless Him Lord! Don’t forget II Corinthians 5:21, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” I cannot tell you the times that I have thought of this experience and still shed tears.

In March of 1993, my wife Linda and daughter Tabatha were able to make the trip. On March 22, my 48th birthday, we were in the Garden of Gethsemane. After reading Matthew 26:36-46, while leading the group in the song, “In the Garden”, the last verse of that song spoke LOUD and CLEAR to me. “I’d stay in the garden with Him (place of security) though the night around me be falling, But He bids me go; through the voice of woe, His voice TO ME is calling.” As we broke up for a time of silence and individual prayer, my family and I gathered under an old olive tree where we surrendered to full- time service for the Lord. I will NEVER regret these tours! “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee.” (Psa 122:6) The Lord had been so good. PRAISE HIS HOLY NAME!
