Opportunistic Preachers

I was thinking of a word that describes some leaders in America and our churches. That word is “opportunist.” A person in authority that is opportunistic is someone who is described by Webster’s dictionary as, “taking advantage of opportunities as they arise and exploiting opportunities with little regard to principle or consequences.” Jeremiah 48:10 states, “Cursed be he that doeth the work of the Lord deceitfully, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.” A leader is an opportunist when:

  1. He works for self.
  2. He wastes the talents of others.
  3. He is wise in his own eyes.
  4. He wants others to make a name for him.
  5. He watches his opponents with envy .
  6. He uses his words for the benefit of him self.
  7. He wrecks the goals of those whom he uses.
