"Abortions on Christians?"

One thing that has troubled me for a long time is the discrepancy between the number of professing Christians and the number of people who vote for the God rejecting, Bible denying, abortion-on-demand democrats. When you run the numbers, you find that a whole lot of people who call themselves Christians have to be voting for the baby butchers. Yet for the life of me I cannot see how anyone who professes any loyalty to God or His Word could ever cast a ballot for the party that champions the right to slaughter babies.

Recently though, I read a startling report about the number of abortions performed annually on women who profess to be Christians. Sadly, the report shed a lot of light on several issues for me. The report by Agape Press said, "A study published by an affiliate of Planned Parenthood says almost a quarter-million abortions are performed each year in the U.S. on women who identify themselves as born-again or evangelical Christians. Approximately 1. 3 7 million abortions are performed in the United States each year. According to a startling and little publicized survey by the Alan Guttmacher Institute, 37.4% of those abortions are performed on Protestant women - approximately one-half (about 18%) of whom profess to be born-again believers. That 18% of the estimated total accounts for about 246,600 aborted babies each year in America. The report goes on to say, "It has become overwhelmingly clear that mainline churches and their leadership are not speaking out against the abortion industry persuasively."

It is very clear isn't it?

Never forget that the number one factor contributing to abortion on demand is sexual sin! Most abortions take place after an act of adultery or fornication. In fact, many abortions take place to either hide an act of adultery or fornication or to postpone the consequences. Ultimately sexual sin is responsible for the killing of millions of babies. The Bible says sexual sin has a process. First there is lust, then sin, then death! (James 1:15). Yet most pastors refuse to address the process that concludes with an innocent life being taken. Very few will deal with the suggestive dress of their members that is feeding and fostering lust. Most won't deal with whoremongery in their churches that may culminate in an innocent baby being sucked violently out of its mother's womb in an abortion. I think it's easy to say abortion is wrong, but it seems to be another matter altogether when it comes to the sin that leads up to abortion.

When was the last time you heard your preacher clearly nail adultery and fornication? Sadly, I hear more about why we shouldn't deal with these issues than why we should. One pastor recently told me that God called him to preach the Gospel not to deal with all these 'other things'. That sure seems different than what Paul said in Acts 20:27, "I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God." What about the issues that lead up to sexual sin like the lack of dating standards among the church's youth? The immodest dress standards. The fact is millions of abortions have been performed on professing Christians.

Couldn't a lot of this have been prevented if the pulpits were not so weak on the things that lead up to abortion? One Independent Baptist Church close by recently took its youth group to a theme park to attend the park swimming pool.

The same group will preach against the sin of abortion but will sponsor a trip where the youth will spend hours filling their minds with nudity. Besides being inconsistent are we stupid as well?

Trumpet reader. If you can't remember the last time these things were dealt with at your church, it may be because the pulpit is guilty or some influential member is being coddled. If either is the case, it's time for you to find another church.

I guess I'm learning why Democrats continue to be elected and babies continue to be slaughtered! It's hard to cast many stones when you live in a glass house.
